About This Quote

In fiction, beauty was run-of-the-mill. This is a quote from the movie, “The Iron Giant.” In this movie, the main character, Hogarth Hughes, sees a beautiful girl in a magazine and falls in love with her. He then sees her in person and realizes that she is scarred horribly. He then decides that he is going to rescue her from her horrible life.

After rescuing her, he finds out that she is the daughter of the man who designed the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima during WWII. He realized that he fell in love with a monster under all of the beauty.
